Help your employees find the time to exercise

The many health benefits of working out are well-known. But fitting in fitness isn’t always easy. The number one reason many people do not exercise is because they feel they have no time. So here are a few tips and ideas about how to make time for exercise.

  • Create a schedule. Weekends, early mornings. Find a time to work out, and stick with it as a routine.

  • Maintain motivation. One out of every two people who exercise quit within a year. Use every opportunity to encourage efforts. “You are doing a great job” and “Keep up the good work” mean more than you might think.

  • Go Public. When someone is exercising, tell friends and family. The more you have, the stronger your motivation.

  • Grab a pal. Finding a workout partner is a great way for people to exercise together at a set time—co-workers who become workout partners may even boost morale in the office.

  • Exercise at home. An early morning routine with free weights or on a treadmill, bike, or stair climber is a great, energizing way to start the day.
